The function then retrieves the user associated with the request and checks for their existence. If the loyalty card type is secondary, it queries looks for an active secondary loyalty record matching the user ID, card number, loyalty ID, loyalty card ID, and active status. If no active secondary loyalty is found, it returns an error message. Finally, it does the update operation.
